‘Austenland’

Tue 9.10 A romantic comedy about 30-something, single Jane Hayes (Keri Russell), a seemingly normal young woman with a secret: her obsession with all things Jane Austen. The PG-13-rated film opens Friday, Sept. 13.

An advance screening has been set for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Charlotte. Free passes will be distributed in the main lobby of the Charlotte Observer building, 600 S. Tryon St., between noon and 1 p.m. Monday. Two passes per person, while supplies last.

Wed 9.11 In this action-comedy, a mafia boss (Robert De Niro) and his family (Michelle Pfeiffer, Dianna Argon, John D’Leo) are relocated to a sleepy town in France under the witness protection program after snitching on the mob. The R-rated film opens Friday, Sept. 13.

‘Art to Poetry to Music’

Opera Carolina, the Charlotte Symphony and the Confucius Institute of Pfeiffer University combine in an evening devoted to Wagner, Verdi, Puccini and Asian songs. Reception at 6:30 p.m. included in ticket price.
