Caldwell County authorities say surveillance of a suspected drug-dealing location helped lead to the arrest of two people Wednesday on methamphetamine-related charges.
A man and a woman were taken into custody after the male suspect allegedly was involved in a possible drug transaction. Sheriff’s deputies say their seized more than $290 in cash and eight packages of meth with an estimated street value of $600.
Deputies say they and Granite Falls police were watching the area when two people in a 1992 Dodge truck pulled up. After parking, deputies say, a man got out of the passenger side of the truck and met with another person behind the vehicle. Investigators say deputies swarmed in after determining that a drug transaction might be taking place.
Roger Dale Franklin Sr., 54, of Lenoir, was charged with maintaining a vehicle to keep and store a controlled substance and possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine. Both charges are felonies. Deputies say Franklin was free on bond from a previous drug arrest in Lenoir. He is jailed under $100,000 bond.
Destiny Nicole Miller, 26, of Lenoir, was charged with meth possession, also a felony. She was jailed under $5,000 bond.
