Charlotte-Mecklenburg police remind public of Firearms by Felons hotline after rash of shootings

In light of several recent shootings in Charlotte, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department wants to remind the public of its Firearms by Felons program, which seeks to arrest felons who have firearms.

The department started the program in May 2012, and it features a phone line for people who can anonymously give information.

Anonymous callers are eligible for a $500 if their information leads to an arrest. To make a tip, callers need to provide the name and description of the suspect, where the suspect is, weapon information and contact information.

The phone line is 704-334-1600.
