2 hurt in separate shootings Sunday

Two people were shot in separate, unrelated incidents on Sunday.

The first shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. at the Walden Courts Apartments, near where North Tryon Street meets East W.T. Harris Boulevard. The victim had nonlife-threatening injuries. .

Around 8 p.m., one person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being shot in a neighborhood near The Plaza.

Police haven’t released a motive in either shooting, or said whether a suspect was on the loose.

Police have dealt with several shootings in the past week.

On Thursday, two people were shot at an anti-violence vigil.

And last week, a burst of five unrelated killings in Charlotte – including three in a single day – led police to the unusual step of announcing that the public had little to fear and that the slayings appeared related to risky lifestyles. WCNC-TV contributed.
