Ideal schedules for working moms
By Anika Myers Palm
In an ideal world, many American moms would work part-time, according to a Pew Research Center survey of mothers.
About 47 percent of mothers in the survey who have children younger than 18 say they'd like to work part-time - and about 44 percent of moms who already work full time say they'd prefer to ditch their busy work life for a part-time schedule. Unfortunately for those working moms, most say they can't work outside the home less because they're out of options (see this related opinion piece).
Even moms who aren't employed outside the home often say they'd like to be: about 40 percent of them want to work part-time, according to the survey.
