MOORESVILLEWake the Lake: The 10th annual Wake the Lake, Lake Norman’s longest-running wakeboarding tournament, will be held Sept. 14 in the Reeds Creek cove off of Williamson Road. Spectators will be able to view the event on the shoreline at Eddie’s Seafood and Raw Bar (formerly Vinnie’s Raw Bar and Restaurant).The one-day tournament will feature competitors in seven divisions: Grom (for boys and girls ages 9-under), Beginner 13-under, Beginner 14-over, Intermediate, Advanced, Outlaw (the professional division) and Wakeskate.Entries are still being accepted for Wake the Lake. Proceeds from this year’s event will go to the Barium Springs Home for Children, which will use the funds to help replace the roofs on four of the facility’s residential buildings. Eat-in and take-out service is available, with prices of $8 for a barbecue plate (includes beans and slaw) or three sandwiches (includes slaw), and $10 for a pound of barbecue.
