National home builder M/I Homes plans to build a 297-home community called Blume at Rocky River and Hickory Ridge roads in Harrisburg. The development will be on 225 rolling farmland acres the company recently acquired from the Blume family for an undisclosed price. Nearly half the site will be permanently preserved as common open space, said Tamara Lynch, vice president of sales and marketing for M/I Homes of Charlotte.Work will begin in the fall. Prices haven’t been set but are expected to range from the $200,000s to the $500,000s, Lynch said. Amenities will include a pool, cabana, walking trails and playground.“We’re planning to landscape the entrances and common open spaces with native blooming plants, keeping the rural feel that’s consistent throughout Harrisburg,” Lynch said.M/I Homes will offer home plans at Blume from the company’s Traditional, Cottage, Courtyard and Showcase series. Buyers can choose from various home styles, ranging from about 2,000 square feet to more than 6,000 square feet.House plans offer three to six bedrooms, two to four baths and two- and three-car garages, including side-entry garages in the Showcase series. Both ranches and two-story homes will be available. Many of the house plans feature large kitchens with double-sided fireplaces, walk-in pantries, downstairs guest suites, family rooms and expansive windows to maximize views.Ranch plans have optional walk-up spaces with extra bedrooms and full baths, high ceilings and skylights.Exterior options will be full brick, brick and stone, and HardiePlank, with brick and stone accents. Homes will have front porches and covered lanais. Some of the homes will have basements and crawl spaces. The Cabarrus County Schools will serve the new community, including Patriots Elementary School, Hickory Ridge Middle School and Hickory Ridge High School. In August, M/I Homes announced plans for another large community in Cabarrus County: the 250-home Brookvue neighborhood at Poplar Tent and Huntersville-Concord roads in Concord. For details on the two developments, contact Kris Bates at 704-286-6498; firstname.lastname@example.org.
