LENOIR-RHYNE (0-1) AT DAVIDSON (0-1)
At Richardson Stadium, 7 p.m.
Despite fumbling eight times and losing five last week, Lenoir-Rhyne only lost 18-10 to Concord, W.Va., while Davidson was routed 42-6 at Georgetown. Lenoir-Rhyne beat Davidson 20-2 last season, but this will be a tougher game if the Bears have trouble holding onto the ball. The long-standing series, which Lenoir-Rhyne leads 10-8, began in 1910.
BOWIE STATE (1-0) AT JOHNSON C. SMITH (1-0)
At Irwin Belk Complex, 2 p.m.
The Eddie McGirt Classic, named after the legendary J.C. Smith coach who led the Golden Bulls to their only CIAA football title in 1969, pits two teams that didnt have trouble putting up points last week. Bowie State racked up 483 yards of total offense in a 42-28 victory against St. Anselm, and J.C. Smith rolled up 306 yards to beat Livingstone 34-17. Though both teams are CIAA schools, the game will not count in the conference standings.
RICHMOND (1-1) at GARDNER-WEBB (1-1)
At Spangler Stadium, 6 p.m.
Richmond (No. 11 in the FCS coaches poll), which is coming off a 23-21 last-minute loss to N.C. State last week, beat Gardner-Webb 41-8 last year and has not lost a nonconference, regular-season FCS game since 2005 (going 17-0 during that span). Gardner-Webb is coming off a 55-0 loss at Marshall. Richmond boasts the best passing game in the Colonial Athletic Association and 11th best in FCS, averaging 306.5 yards per game.
CATAWBA (1-0) AT LIVINGSTONE (0-1)
At Alumni Memorial Stadium, 6 p.m.
The Mayors Cup, which pits the two Salisbury schools, has been one-sided since its inception with Catawba leading the series 13-0, including a 49-17 victory last year. Catawba squeaked by West Liberty, 10-9, last week, while Livingstone lost to J.C. Smith, 34-17.
