3 Charlotte-area students win scholarships

Three Charlotte-area students who have worked at Subway recently were awarded scholarships through the Peter S. Slomianyj Scholarship Fund, named for the president of Chapel Hill-based North Carolina Subway Group.

Kaitlin Wood of Locust received a $2,500 scholarship to attend the University of South Florida. She is a recent graduate of South Stanly High. Julie Gavrilov of Monroe, who's attending South Piedmont Community College, received a $1,500 scholarship. Alexandra Stanczak of Monroe, attending UNC Greensboro, received a $1,000 scholarship.
