Dirt is being pushed around and bushes planted on the site of the future Bridges at Mint Hill shopping complex on Lawyers Road, but don’t make plans to shop there just yet. Developers still haven’t announced a timetable for development.Chris Thomas, a partner with Childress Klein, one of the developers of the project, says they are doing some housekeeping to make the site more presentable.“We realize that it hasn’t been as attractive as it needed to be, and we’re going to fix that. We’ve had our landscape contractor out there and we are going to spend some money to make it look better,” said Thomas. In just a few weeks, HomeArama – the HomeBuilders Association of Charlotte’s annual luxury home showcase – is scheduled for the Cheval neighborhood, across the road from the site. Thomas says Childress Klein wants to do its part to make the showcase event as successful as possible. He said the developers are still waiting for road plan approval from the N.C. Department of Transportation and will come back to Mint Hill Commissioners to present their project before any construction begins.“I realize it’s taking a lot longer than any of us would like for it to, but I feel optimistic about the continued improvement in the economy and in our industry,” said Thomas. “We hope to have an update on the development soon.”
