Ardrey Kell (3-1, 0-0 SoMeck 8) vs. West Mecklenburg (4-0, 0-0) at Berry, Fri., 7 p.m: Ardrey Kell has won three straight since opening the season with a 24-7 loss to 3A Weddington. The Knights have gotten better each week, but two of the wins are against 3A teams. West Meck looks to have one of the best teams in school history. Star tailback Shaun Wilson committed to Duke on Friday.
Harding (3-0, 0-0 SoMeck 8) at South Mecklenburg (0-4, 0-0): Harding has lost five straight to South Meck by an average of more than 20 points per game. The 2013 Rams, led by interim coach Walter Aikens, are one win away, however, from matching their combined win total from the 2012 and 2011 seasons. Harding hasnt won four games in a season since 2009 under Jeremy Buck. South Meck has struggled to score, with a season-high of just 10 points.
Providence (2-2, 0-0 SoMeck 8) at Olympic (3-1, 0-0): Other than an eight-point performance at Independence Sept. 6, Olympics offense has been as good as any in the area. QB Rod Tinsley and the Trojans have scored 118 points in two weeks. Providence played No. 3 Hough tough in it season opener, losing 34-21 and lost a close game to 4A power Porter Ridge (28-24) Sept. 6.
Fort Mill (2-2) at Rock Hill South Pointe (3-1): Fort Mill rallied from a 14-0 deficit Friday against Broome, winning 27-21. Broome ran 41 plays in the second half and Fort Mill ran just 13. That formula probably wont work again against 4A power South Pointe, which was off Friday.
Hopewell (1-3, 0-0 MECKA 8) at Hough (4-0, 0-0): One of the best rivalries in Mecklenburg County renews, and it could be high scoring. Hough averages 39.5 points per game. Hopewell averages 37.25. The teams have split the past two meetings.
