INDIAN LAND Authorities are looking for suspects in a burglary that occurred at a residence while the owner was at home and asleep.
An Indian Land woman said she was sleeping in her Arundale Lane home when she heard the doorbell ring 15 times. When she walked downstairs, she saw two men holding her laptops, iPad and car keys according to a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office report.
The men ran out the back door and the woman chased them, she told deputies. The men then threw her things at her before one of them pointed a gun at her and told her not to follow them.
Both suspects were described as African-American, approximately 20 to 30 years old with braided hair, according to the sheriff’s office report, and they may have been driving a black sports car with tinted windows.
No arrests have been made, according to Major Matt Shaw with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
Shaw said that typically, a burglar will go to the door to see if someone is home. They are not often looking for a confrontation, he added.
“If someone rings your door bell and you are uncomfortable opening the door, talk to them through the door. If you feel that the situation is suspicious, immediately call 911. Also be aware of suspicious activity at your neighbor’s residence as well,” he said.
Anyone with information about the crime can call the sheriff’s office at 803-313-2144.
