BOONE -- A 20-year-old man who had been sought by law enforcement officers for a week was located and arrested Wednesday, Watauga County authorities say.

Wesley Alan Cox, of Deep Gap, was found at a residence on Knowles Haven Lane in Boone. The sheriff’s office says deputies and Boone police found Cox hiding under a pile of clothes.

Cox was sought on charges from two incidents, one of which took place nearly nine months ago..

He was wanted in connection with a Jan. 2 robbery at the Rite Aid pharmacy on Shadowline Drive in Boone. In that case, the suspect demanded pills while threatening a clerk with the use of gun.

Cox also was sought on charges that he stole a semi-automatic pistol from a store on Old Highway 421 south of Boone on Oct. 17.

He is being held under a total bond of $120,000, facing felony charges of larceny of a firearm and robbery with a dangerous weapon, authorities say.
