Kenny Purvis, Central Cabarrus: Ran for a school-record 477 yards and six touchdowns in a 63-26 win against Hickory Ridge on Friday. The yardage is the fourth-most in N.C. history and the most single-game yardage ever by an Observer-area N.C. player. Crest’s Josh Brown ran for 428 yards in 2000 against Freedom.
Tyler Bray, South Point: Ran nine times for 127 yards and two touchdowns and returned a kickoff 76 yards for a score in Friday’s 56-7 win against East Gaston. Bray, a senior fullback, became his school’s all-time leading rusher in the game.
Zeph Wall, Monroe: Freshman making his first start had 102 yards and two touchdowns on six carries as 2A Monroe beat 3A Sun Valley 32-2 at home. Monroe junior Chase Byrum ran 29 times for 162 yards and two touchdowns.
Josh Stilley, Hough: Threw for a career-high 294 yards and six touchdowns in 42-13 win against Hopewell.
Kannapolis Brown defense: Held North Meck to minus-1-yard rushing and had eight quarterback sacks in a 30-14 win Friday. Receiver Johnny Delahoussaey had 10 catches for 147 yards for the Wonders.
