GREENVILLE, N.C. East Carolina’s women’s soccer team scored early then tacked on another goal in the second half to mount a 2-0 victory over Charlotte (6-4, 1-1 Conference USA) on Sunday.
Danielle Romero’s corner kick was headed home by Skylar Poole in the second minute past starting Charlotte goalkeeper Annika McHenry, making her first starting appearance this season. Lexi Miller got the second goal in the 76th minute.
Samford 3, Davidson 0: The Bulldogs (7-2-1, 1-0-1 Southern Conference) pushed their unbeaten streak to six games behind Amanda Abbott’s two goals in Birmingham, Ala. The Wildcats are 2-6-3.
UNC Greensboro 2, Western Carolina 0: The Spartans (5-4-1, 1-0-1 Southern Conference) scored late goals in both halves to shut the Catamounts (5-4-1, 0-2). Katherine Rodriquez and Rebecca Burrows scored for Greensboro.
Clemson 1, Florida State 1: For 85 minutes it appeared that the host Tigers would record a victory over a top-five opponent for the first time since 2004, but a late goal forced a 1-1 double overtime draw. The Tigers are 6-2-3 (3-1-1 ACC) while the Seminoles move to 9-0-3, 4-0-2.
Boston College 3, N.C. State 2: McKenzie Meehan scored all three of the visiting Eagles' (6-5-0, 3-2-0 ACC) goals. The Wolfpack is 6-6-0, 1-5-0.
Wake Forest 1, Syracuse 0: Riley Ridgik scored in the tenth minute in the first-ever meeting between the two teams. The Deacons moved to 8-2-1 (3-2-1 ACC), while Syracuse dropped to 4-7-1, 0-5-1.
Elon 3, Appalachian State 3: The visiting Phoenix scored 41 seconds in, and after trading goals all match, the Mountaineers scored with under a minute left to force overtime. Elon is 6-1-3 and Appalachian State is 3-4-2.
Appalachian State 1, Furman 1: The tie in Boone snapped the Paladins’ (7-1-1) six-match winning streak whil the Mountaineers moved to 2-1-6, 0-0-1 Southern Conference. Donovan Japp (Northwest Guilford) scored for Appalachian State in the 26th minute. Tyler Peoples scored for Furman in the second half.
Davidson 2, Georgia Southern 1: The Wildcats (5-3-1, 1-1-0 Southern Conference) got goals from Alex Feliciano and Valeriy Sviderskiy in Statesboro, Ga. The Eagles are 4-5-0, 0-1-0.
