NCAIS honors band students

Twenty-seven students have been selected for this year’s N.C. Association of Independent Schools’ Middle School and High School Honor Bands.

The NCAIS Honor Bands allow students to perform with a large concert band made up of the most talented concert band musicians from NCAIS independent schools throughout the state. The bands will perform at UNC-Wilmington Oct. 10-11.

Providence Day leads Charlotte-area NCAIS schools with 16 selections: Eli Barr, Duncan Flippo, Gwen Goins, Makayla Hancock, Michael Stuart, Thomas Watts and Alexander Yang at the high school level, and Ronak Bhagia, Hoban Carney, Nicholas Edwards, Neelu Gupta, Megan Jacobs, David Li, Ben Long, Nikhil Mandal and Lily Mischinski at middle school.

Others at the high school level: Carmel Christian: Sam Chapman; Charlotte Country Day: Grant Steelman, Trent Steelman, Maylin van Cleeff, Jonathan Vehaun; Covenant Day: GiannaMarie Dobson, Danielle Hickman. Middle school: Carmel Christian: Nick Gerald, Will Lynch; Covenant Day: Matthew Buie, Emerson Rogers.
