North Carolina congressman caught sleeping in U.S. House session

Oops! A Raleigh congressman appears to have been caught catching a few winks of sleep while presiding over part of a U.S. House session on Thursday.

In the clip that is making its way across the internet, Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas is speaking on the House floor when the camera suddenly pans over to U.S. Rep. George Holding. The congressman's eyes are closed and he is briefly slouched over to the side of his chair before he opens his eyes and straightens up in his seat.

According to the New York Daily News, the footage was shot Thursday while Gohmert was speaking against the Affordable Care Act.

Holding is in his first term representing the 13th Congressional District, which includes portions of nine counties, including Wake and Durham. He previously served as U.S. Attorney for North Carolina's Eastern District.
