Wheely Bug review & giveaway!

Written by Michelle Lloyd

We are in love with Prince Lionheart's Wheely Ride Ons!

These non-toxic toddler toys are PVC free and made with a wipeable PU covering. Certified tested to ASTM 963, CE EN71, JP ST05, AS/NZ ISO 8124. The toys are padded with 1" sponge layer so they have a little added comfort. The wheels have multidirectional castors allowing the wheely bug to move freely against obstacles. They even have a plywood base made from renewable plantation timber.

The wheely bugs are intended for indoor use or on smooth surfaces. The small and large ride ons are available in 6 adorable animals for children ages 18 months+.

While the intended age for the small wheely bug is 18 months, I think it would make an excellent first birthday present. Little man has loved making it move all over the hardwood floor and has enjoyed sitting on it in his room. The ride on is excellent for teaching balance as well as tuning fine motor skills. It can be gently pushed on carpet, which he finds a lot of fun. I would not allow a 1 year old to ride on hardwood or concrete.

The wheely bug is like a giant truck, which he loves! Especially since it has a large handle bar. My older kiddo has even enjoyed rolling around the kitchen, though she is a bit too big for it, but it hasn't stopped her.

The wheely bug comes in 2 sizes- small for 18 months+ and a large for 3 yrs+. It can hold up to 50 pounds, so your child can enjoy it for several years. You can choose from a lady bug, cow, bee, tiger, mouse, and pig. The wheely bug is a proud winner of the:

  • Best Australian Toy” ITSA Quality Toy Awards 2000,2001,2003,2005,2006
  • Gold Awards: Right Start Best Toy(UK) 2005, Baby and Toddler(UK) 2005
  • Silver Tokyo Gift Fair 2006, Highly Commended Mother& Baby(UK)2005

You can get a wheely bug at Target for $57.99-$69.99.
