The second annual HOLA Charlotte Hispanic Heritage Festival, held in conjunction with National Hispanic Heritage Month, filled N. Tryon St. between 6th and 8th streets, and 7th street at Levine Museum of the New South, the 7th St. Public Market, and ImaginOn on Saturday October 5, 2013 from noon-7p.m. The festival celebrated the heritage, customs, food, music, dance and art of Latino culture. Events included dance exhibitions throughout the day, live musical performances headlined by Mochy y Nathalia, Furia Tropikal, and David Canals y su Mambo Caribe, children's' activities, authentic Latin food and drink and arts and crafts by local artists. A highlight of the festival was the Latin American Cultural Village featuring exhibits, handcrafts, art, clothing and other cultural items from 10 participating Latin American countries. Each tent was hosted by a non-profit or cultural organization connected to the country being celebrated. Discovery Place (discounted admission), Levine Museum of the New South (free Community Day for all) ImaginOn (kid-friendly entertainment throughout the day), and the 7th Street Public Market also hosted ongoing activities throughout the day.
