Authorities are trying to figure out what happened to a man whose body was found in a home just north of uptown Charlotte on Monday night.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have said little about how the man died. In a statement, the department said the death may be medically related, but the Medical Examiner’s office is planning to conduct an autopsy.

Police said they were called to the home on Justice Avenue about 5:40 p.m. Well after 9 p.m. dozens of neighbors and onlookers had gathered outside the police tape to watch investigators work.

Crime Scene investigators were called to the scene to collect physical evidence, and representatives of the vice and gang units were also called in, although police haven’t said why.

Investigators encourage anyone with information on the case to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
