This journey through the valley of shadows and sorrow is a solitary one…

Thankfully, the pathway of advocacy is not.

The issue of teen driver safety is no small matter to my family, for obvious reasons…

What I’ve gradually discovered over the last 4+ years is there are other like-minded individuals and organizations scattered throughout our community, also fully committed to this same cause…

While we have different means of achieving this common goal, our desired outcome is the same: through the sharing of personal stories, educational tools and interactive experiences, lives of teens and young adult drivers will be saved.

I would like to invite anyone with a new or young teen driver as well as anyone else concerned about teen driver safety to join us-myself, the Butler High School DREAM Team, local State Farm agents Darin Morton, John Norris, John Sullivan and Todd Younker-on Saturday, October 19th, 2013 from 8:45 am until 1:30 pm at Butler High School in Matthews, NC for the very first session of StreetSafe in our area.

StreetSafe will be conducting their “Life Saving Driving Experience” at Butler as part of State Farm’s “Celebrate My Drive” teen driver safety initiative.

During the StreetSafe session, “young drivers are put through several exercises where-in a controlled environment-they experience the consequences of distractions, losing control, impaired driving, safe stopping distance and seatbelt use.  They also participate in an interactive discussion session while hearing from local judges, district attorneys, and the victims and perpetrators of those involved in Motor Vehicle Crashes.  StreetSafe also emphasizes the importance of parental involvement in their young drivers’ education and is unique in its inclusion of a parents’ session as part of its program.”

Please note: pre-registration is required to participate; you may register by following the directions as follows:

I truly believe in what StreetSafe has to offer; I wish I’d known about it years ago when my children began driving.  Before the unthinkable happened to me.

You don’t have to take my word for it, see what other parents have said about StreetSafe by following this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VDb_2ZVUsI .

Hear what the teen participants themselves had to say about their experience: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFtI1Qbfu94.

For a minimal outlay of time and money, the return on your investment will be priceless…

Tammy will update her blog twice weekly…
