Domestic Violence Awareness run Saturday

The third annual Domestic Violence Awareness Walk/Run will be Saturday morning in the Myers Park community, and registration will remain open until the event begins.

The 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) event, titled “Steps for Change,” is set for 8-10 a.m. at Alexander Graham Middle School’s track, 1800 Runnymede Lane. All proceeds from the event go to Safe Alliance, which provides a variety of support programs to deal with domestic violence and help its victims.

Race-day registration will be open from 7:30 to 8 a.m., and the entry fee is $10.

There will be music and refreshments, along with information about domestic violence-related issues.

Those are unable to attend the event can donate online at www.safealliance.org.
