Public health forums
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina will sponsor a number of community health forums through the end of October to help residents understand how the new Affordable Care Act laws will affect them. The local forums are part of a statewide campaign that Segmented Marketing Services Inc. No Stomach for Cancer
Registration for the second annual No Stomach for Cancer Worldwide Walk is still open, and the local walk begins at 9 a.m. Nov. 2 on the Pine Lake Preparatory campus, 1639 N.C. 115, Mooresville. All proceeds will go to No Stomach For Cancer. Details and to register: www.nostomachforcancer.org.
Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics will collect donations of pre-owned prosthetics through Nov. 1. Donations will be given to the Physicians for Peace program to use at the organization’s clinics all over the world, especially those outside Manila in the Philippines. Donated limbs are screened to ensure donations are high-quality and appropriate for the needs. It is illegal to reuse prosthetics in the U.S. Donations can be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics, 309 S. Sharon Amity Road, Suite 104.
