Charlotte Country Day students pitch in all over town

Charlotte Country Day students helped clean debris around Twelve Mile Creek as part of their efforts during Community Service Day, which was also the first day of Spirit Week, on Sept. 25.

More than 500 Country Day high school students and their teachers took part in Community Service Day. Groups of eight to 20 students and faculty were dropped off at 20 different agencies, where they spent the morning participating in such activities as gardening with seniors at Aldersgate, serving lunch at the Charlotte Rescue Mission, cleaning at Ronald McDonald House, storm drain marking for Storm Water Services and sorting donations at Habitat for Humanity.

Before heading out, students also took part in a longtime Spirit Week tradition called Can-Do Day. Upper and Lower School students collected canned goods for Second Harvest Food Bank. Country Day collected 4,228 pounds of food, enough to feed a family of four 705 meals.
