York County sheriffs deputies are investigating a shooting at a Lake Wylie fast-food restaurant that left a man seriously injured Sunday night.
A baby was in the back seat of the car where the victim was shot, according to the incident report.
The shooting was reported shortly before 6 p.m. at the Burger King on S.C. 557, according to deputies.
A 23-year-old woman told deputies she and her 27-year-old boyfriend were moving with the womans baby from Gastonia to Clover. The woman said they decided to stop at the Burger King.
As they pulled toward the drive-through window, the woman said, a silver Ford Explorer pulled beside them. A man got out of the SUV and walked to the passenger side of the womans car, exchanging words with the womans boyfriend.
The woman said the man from the SUV then shot her boyfriend.
The woman said she began driving to a hospital in southwest Charlotte but decided to stop at the Buster Boyd Boat Landing and call for help. The shooting victim was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center. His condition is not known Monday morning.
Deputies say that based on a description from the woman, they believe the suspect was a 27-year-old Clover man. But no arrests have been announced in the case.
