Newton-Conover jumps into Charlotte Observer Sweet 16 soccer poll

Providence and Garinger remain 1-2 in the Sweet 16 poll. Garinger had a big match with No. 7 Myers Park scheduled for Monday night.

New to the poll this week is No. 16 Newton-Conover (13-4-2). Newton-Conover, which has won six straight games and enters the poll at No. 16, has lost only one match since Sept. 12.

• Making a big jump this week is South Iredell (15-1-2) which moved from No. 11 to No. 5. South Iredell has won 14 of its last 15 matches. Nine of the wins are by shutout. South Iredell is ranked No. 4 in the N.C. 3A coaches poll.
