Concord Cannon won its third straight N.C. Independent School girls state golf championship Monday at Pine Needles Lodge in Southern Pines.
Cannons Annie Collom shot a 3-over-par 74 to win the event on the 5,400-yard layout, beating her sister Kate Collum and Wesleyan Christians Cecily Overbey by a shot. Cannons Anna Redding shot a 76.
Cannons overall team score was 225, 25 shots lower than second place Durham Academy. Providence Day (263) was third. Charlotte Country Day (296) was seventh and Charlotte Latin (301) was ninth. Cannons score of 225 was a championship meet record.
A total of 61 golfers from 13 schools participated in the event.

Lake Normans Lauren Gish defeated Charlotte Catholics Grace Deering 6-1, 6-2 in the finals of the N.C. 4A Western Regional individual tennis tournament Monday at Hough High. The tournament was postponed from Saturday.
Houghs Gabby Moore and Olympics Nicole Spencer reached the semifinals. Moore beat Spencer 7-6, 5-7, 6-0 in the third place match.
In doubles, Ardrey Kells Sarah Yuan and Hailey Simon defeated Providences Anna Mattapallil and Haley Tan 6-2, 6-2.
Lake Normans Bella Dokell and Ali Bates defeated Wataugas Meghan Smith and Kelsi Kanoy in the third place match.
• The individual N.C. state championships are Friday and Saturday. The 1A and 2A are at the Cary Tennis Center. The 3A is at Burlingtons Tennis Center and the 4A is at the Raleigh Millbrok Exchange Tennis park.
