Traffic along major Charlotte arteries was moving smoothly as of 7 a.m., with only a couple of wrecks reported.
Police were on the scene of collisions at Nations Crossing and East Woodlawn roads, and at Brookshire Boulevard and Mountain Island Brook Lane.
At 7 a.m., disabled vehicles are being reported at South Tryon Street and Woodlawn Road, and West John Belk Freeway and Interstate 77 South.
Downed power lines have blocked Statesville Avenue at Tipton Drive since 4:30 a.m.
In other traffic news:
• East Third Street between South Tryon and South College streets is scheduled to close at 6 p.m. Friday and re-open at 6 p.m. Sunday for crane work on the Two Wells Fargo Center, the Charlotte Department of Transportation announced.
The detour will be right on South Tryon, left on East Stonewall Street, left on South College and right back onto East Third.
Local access will be maintained. CATS will be affected.
• To accommodate utility relocations for the LYNX Blue Line Extension, the 400 block of East Craighead Road between Philemon Avenue and North Davidson Street will remain closed until 6 a.m. Nov. 4, the Charlotte Department of Transportation announced.
The closure began on Oct. 7.
Motorists traveling on East Craighead Road can use North Tryon Street, East 36th Street and North Davidson Street as a detour.
Local access is open to businesses and parking facilities.
CATS isn’t affected.
