All lanes of Interstate 85 near the Cabarrus County line have finally been reopened after a massive snarl earlier this morning.

Traffic backed up for miles around 6 a.m. when reports of an overturned tractor trailer between Concord Mills Boulevard and Poplar Tent Road came in. There was another accident near Bruton Smith Boulevard shortly after.

Traffic on the northbound side was detoured onto Concord Mills Boulevard to U.S. 29. Southbound traffic was detoured from the interstate to N.C. 73 to U.S. 29.

Even with all lanes open again, heavy residual delays on the interstate are likely.
