Holiday Festival of Tables: The HeART of the Home Holiday Festival of Tables will be held starting at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 9 at the Hiddenite Center Educational Complex, 70 Hiddenite Church Road. Lunch will be served around 11:30 a.m.
During the event, regional author Lynda Everett will read from her new book, “Echoes from Hiddenite: The Amy Lackey Williams Story.” The book chronicles the life, family, and legacy of Amy Lackey Williams, who is the sister of Hiddenite Center founder Eileen Lackey Sharpe.

Hospice month: November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month. During the week of Nov. 4-8, Hospice Cleveland County will host a virtual conference on grief, loss and bereavement. The conference will be broadcast over the Internet to the Hospice Cleveland County administrative building, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby.

Hudson’s Hit Parade of Stars: Hudson’ Hit Parade of Stars will be held 7-9 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Hudson Uptown Building in downtown Hudson. All proceeds benefit the Robin’s Nest Children’s Advocacy Center of Lenoir.
The show will feature popular music from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, along with skits from “The Andy Griffith Show” and “O Brother Where Art Thou.”

Collecting toys: The Gaston County Police Department is partnering with the Gaston Chapter of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots program and the department’s headquarters at 420 W. Franklin Blvd. in Gastonia is now a drop-off point for toys.
Donation boxes are in the front foyer of the department. The department’s Explorer Scout post will also be assisting with toy collections.

Living history: A special Home School Living History Day sponsored by the Gaston County Museum will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 13 at Biggerstaff Park in Dallas. Activities will focus on learning about life in the 19th century and will include interactive stations, tours of the property and games.
