Cox Mill sophomore Sarah Jiang advanced to the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s 3A state championships, which were played Oct. 25-26 at the Burlington Parks and Recreation Tennis Center.Jiang qualified for this year’s state championships after advancing to the finals of the 3A Midwest Regional tournament, held Oct. 18-19 in Concord. She lost to Weddington’s Heidi Swope in straight sets in the singles final.As a freshman, Jiang won the Midwest Regional title and advanced to the 3A singles final before suffering her first and only loss of the season, falling to McMichael High’s Masey Demoss in straight sets.
