No injuries in Monroe armed robbery

No injuries were reported early Tuesday in an armed robbery at a Monroe convenience store, police say.

The robbery took place about 1 a.m. at the Kangaroo Express, in the 1600 block of West Franklin Street, according to police.

Investigators say a man walked into the store, pulled a small pocket knife, and demanded money from the clerk. The man took money and then walked off, according to police.

Police describe the suspect as a light-skinned black male, about 6 feet tall and 160 pounds. The man was wearing a dark shirt, jeans, and he had a red bandana over his face.

Anyone with information can contact Monroe police at 704-282-4700, or Crime Stoppers of Union County, 704-283-5600.
