Ardrey Kell High has the best 4A girls golf team in North Carolina.
The Knights won the N.C. 4A state championship for the second straight season Tuesday, beating Cary Green Hope by 12 shots. It was Ardrey Kell’s second straight state title and the Knights’ third in four years. Ardrey Kell led by 10 shots after the first round and stretched its lead in its dominating performance Tuesday at the 5,735-yard Pinehurst No. 6 course.
In the team race, Alexander Central was fifth.
Individually, Raleigh Athens Drive’s Emilia Migilaccio won the individual championship, shooting a two-day total of 149. She beat Ardrey Kell’s Moon Cheong and Green Hope’s Meghan Symonds by two shots. Watauga’s Savanna Wood (155) was seventh and Ardrey Kell’s Megan Culp (157) was ninth.
• Salisbury won the N.C. 1A/2A championship at the Longleaf Golf and Country Club in Southern Pines. Salisbury won its third straight state title in dominating fashion, beating second place Newport Croatan by 57 shots. Elkin’s Annika Winebarger shot a 9-over 151, to win the individual title by three shots over teammate Mary Frances Hall and Salisbury’s Isabella Rusher, who was trying to win her third straight state title.
Salisbury’s Grace Yatawara and Madeline Hoskins also had top 10 finishes.
In the team race, Gray Stone Day finished fifth and South Stokes was sixth.
• Ledford won its third straight 3A title at the Foxfire Resort and Golf Club in Foxfire Village. Lee County’s Siranon Shome won the individual championship with a two-day score of 149.
