Piedmont expects higher natural gas bills this winter

Bruce Henderson

Piedmont Natural Gas expects monthly bills will be $5 to $7 higher this winter for typical residential customers in the Carolinas, reflecting higher wholesale gas costs.

Wholesale costs of gas hit a nearly 10-year low in 2012 but has risen since then as demand increased. Piedmont’s annual forecast assumes that weather, the major factor in how much gas customers use, will be normal this winter.

Piedmont’s website has tips on how customers can cut their energy use. Bruce Henderson
