Iredell County sheriffs investigators have arrested and charged a Statesville man in the theft of a womans checks that were passed at Food Lion stores in Iredell County.
Detectives charged Corey Combs, 33, with one count of larceny and seven counts of obtain property by false pretense. Combs was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond pending a court appearance.
The victim learned her checks had been stolen after receiving several notices for returned checks from TRS Recovery Service for seven unpaid checks through TeleCheck, sheriffs investigators said.
The victim also told investigators that shed received a phone call from the manager of the Food Lion on Turnersburg Highway that several of her checks were being passed at the store by a white male.
Investigators said they obtained video from Food Lion of the suspect.
