Halloween redux at weekend events

Halloween falling on Thursday equates to an extra weekend of celebration. So if you want to get your money’s worth out of your costume, here are a few after-the-fact holiday parties happening this weekend – among many other events.


Boo Bash at Coyote Joe’s (4621 Wilkinson Blvd.): The club’s annual “Spooktacular Halloween 1-2-3 Night” – for ages 18 and older – features a costume contest for $1,800 in cash prizes and live music from Out of the Blue. Doors open at 7 p.m. $12 cover. 704-399-4946.

Su Casa’s Halloween Hangover at Dharma Lounge (1440 S. Tryon St.): Eclectic music from DJ Justice and DJ Jopedo is paired with screenings of classic horror flicks. 9 p.m.-2 a.m. $5 cover. 704-334-8336.

Montford Drive Whiskey Walk: A venture down Montford, with stops at The Roasting Company, Jeff’s Bucket Shop, Moosehead Grille, Hef’s Bar and Grill, and Barreled at The Lift. Registration is 7 p.m. at Angry Ale’s (1518 Montford Drive). Free to crawl. RSVP to

The Day of the Dead party at X Nightclub (950 NC Music Factory Blvd.): Featuring a burlesque show by Las Vegas’ The Suicide Sirens. 10 p.m. Free before 11 p.m., $10 after. 704-288-1781.

Kryptonite Halloween Bash at Neighborhood Theatre (511 E. 36th St.): The Seventh Annual Glitterati Ball features a $5,000 costume contest and a dance party complete with drag queens. 9 p.m.-2 a.m. $15. 704-942-7997.

Halloween Party at Finz Raw Bar (142 E. John St., Matthews): Live music from Lipstick on a Pig, and a costume contest (of course). Music starts at 9 p.m. No cover. 704-814-9114.

Speaking of raw bars, Vinnie’s Raw Bar in Lake Norman has transformed into Eddie’s Seafood and Raw Bar (643 Williamson Road, Mooresville). Eddie’s recently opened, if you want to check it out. 704-799-2090.


SouthEnd Beer Festival in the South End Food Truck Lot (1616 Camden Road): There’ll be live music, food trucks and lots of beer. Starts at noon. $10 for designated drivers; $50 for VIP (includes opportunities to sample more than 50 local, regional, national and even international craft brewers). 215-266-7254.

Dining with Friends Finale at Discovery Place (301 N. Tryon St.): Enjoy desserts, champagne, cocktails and dancing while helping the community, as proceeds from the event benefit RAIN. 9-11 p.m. $30 donation.
