4 arrested in Albemarle burglary cases

ALBEMARLE Police say they hope the arrest of four teens this week will put a dent in the rising number of home burglaries in the city.

Albemarle police say the arrests resulted in a tip from a resident who reported seeing a break-in taking place. Chief W.I. Halliburton says detectives have been concentrating on the burglaries in recent weeks.

Police say these four men each was charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering and two counts of larceny after breaking and entering – Jatwane Cole, 19; Tre Jaquan Peoples, 19; Braxton Demille Phifer, 19; and Benjamin James Whitley, 18.

Each of the four is scheduled for an initial court appearance Monday.
