Batteries stolen from buses at Statesville elementary school

Bus drivers at Cloverleaf Elementary School on James Farm Road in Statesville were delayed in starting their routes Thursday morning after 24 batteries were stolen from the buses overnight.

Iredell County sheriff’s detectives will look at school video to try to identify who stole the batteries, sheriff’s Major Darren Campbell said.

Meanwhile, Campbell asks that all businesses that sell or trade batteries be alert to anyone wanting to sell or trade large quantities of batteries.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office at 704-878-3100 or Iredell/Statesville Crime Stoppers at 704-662-1340.
