Huntersville man charged with exposing himself

Huntersville police have charged a 25-year-old man with exposing himself to two young women last weekend.

A police detective who was in the area at the time of the alleged incident helped identify the suspect, investigators say.

Hugh Thomas Ragland IV of Huntersville was charged Thursday with two counts of felony indecent exposure and two counts of indecent liberties with a child.

Police were contacted Saturday by two young women who said an adult male jogger exposed himself as he ran past them on Spruell Street near Holly Springs Drive. The women said the man made additional loops around a common area near the intersection and reached his hands into his pants as he ran past the victims.

Police say a detective who was jogging in the area recalled passing a man who fit the suspect’s description. Investigators say the detective knew the identity of the man he saw.

Ragland met with Huntersville police Thursday and was charged afterward.

Police ask that anyone who might have had a similar experience with Ragland contact them at 704-464-5400.
