Hickory firefighters responded to a fire at the store, located at 2525 Highway 70 Southeast, about 1:30 a.m.

A fire had started in a clothing section, but a customer and store employees were able to contain it with an extinguisher, according to a release from the Hickory Fire Department.

Firefighters used ventilation fans to get rid of the smoke.

Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set and are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Hickory Fire Prevention Bureau at 828-323-7522 or the Hickory Police Department at 828-328-5551.
