A man seriously injured in a west Charlotte shootout more than a week ago died of his injuries on Monday.

Shawn Love, 21, had been in intensive care since being taken to the hospital following the Nov. 1 shooting. He was pronounced dead by hospital staff a day short of his 22nd birthday.

Several people called Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police around 8:20 p.m. on Nov. 1 after hearing gunshots. Police say Love and another man “were involved in an exchange of gunfire with several other male subjects when they were shot.” The other man, who hasn’t been identified, arrived at Carolinas Medical Center with a nonlife-threatening gunshot wound.

No one has been arrested in connection with the shootings.

Police encourage anyone with information about the shooting to call 704-432-TIPS (8477) to speak to a homicide detective. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
