Man charged in shooting death of Gastonia teen

A Shelby man has been charged in connection with Sunday night’s shooting death of a 17-year-old in Gastonia, police say.

The suspect also is a teen, according to police. He is identified as Taikeem Devuntae Littlejohn, 18. The victim was Brandon McCall.

The shooting took place during a drug deal in the 1800 block of West Third Avenue, according to Gastonia police.

McCall was shot and tried to drive away, police said. He was able to get a few blocks before his Honda Civic crashed into another vehicle and then a utility pole. McCall died at the scene.

Littlejohn was charged with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon, police say. He was being held Wednesday under $250,000 bond at the Gaston County Jail.
