2 escape injury in Huntersville house fire

No injuries were reported but a house was heavily damaged in a fire overnight, Huntersville officials said.

The fire was reported shortly after 3 a.m. at a house in the 10300 block of Mount Holly-Huntersville Road. That is a short distance north of the Northlake Mall area near Huntersville.

Authorities say firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the single-story frame home when they arrived. Two crews from the Huntersville Fire Department and a team from the Long Creek department needed 15 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

Two residents were displaced, authorities said.

Investigators are working to determine a cause.

“The home is heavily damaged and might be a total loss,” said Bill Suthard, a spokesman for the Huntersville Fire Department.
