Jennifer Weintraub of South Charlotte is CEO of Fun and mom to two boys. She began J&Z Entertainment in 2012, and in August, she purchased a franchise with her husband, Mark, called Tapsnap. More than a mere DJ, Jennifer turns any event into the best event. Keep reading to find out how Jennifer can make your parties exceptional!

Q. What all do you do with J&Z Entertainment?

A. J&Z is a full service entertainment company. We do primarily Mitzvahs, but we also do weddings, corporate events, and birthday parties.

At J&Z, I am a DJ, emcee, and the owner. I have dancers (party motivators) and DJ's that spin music. We have a great time. I have been in the industry for over 20 years.

Q. How did you get started in the entertainment industry?

Originally, I worked in Detroit right out of college doing Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, for a company that is huge there, Joe Cornell Entertainment. I decided to open my own down here, to give the Charlotte guys a little competition! I am the only female MC in town, and I am also a dance instructor, and choreographer, which makes me different.

I also teach dance, at Providence Day School, and DJ there for big events. I just love what do!

Q. What makes J&Z so unique?

A. I think the most unique thing about J&Z Entertainment is that not only can you get a female emcee, which is totally hard to find, but you also get a dancer and a DJ rolled up into ONE!

I don’t just spin music behind a table - I interact with the guests, move from behind the music, and TEACH the line dances. I am not just playing music at the party, I AM the party!

So, when a bride hires a DJ she is getting a guy playing songs. When she hires me, she is getting INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT!

I control the room, and I make sure my guests and clients feel at ease, no stress! There should be NO STRESS at an event. If there is a problem, my client will not know about it, lol. I go all night, and I don’t stop. I have insane energy…Check out my website, it’s pretty crazy what I do.

Q. What has been your favorite party?

A. I have done some great events here in Charlotte, but my most favorite had to be my first Bat Mitzvah, for Sophie Marx, at Temple Beth El.

We had my entire party staff there - 3 dancers, risers, lighting, my DJ, Plasma TVs. Wow! I had 100 kids on the dance floor the entire night. Sophie, the Bat Mitzvah, was so happy, which is all I can hope for - an ecstatic client, not to mention a packed dance floor, and a thrilled mom! My night was complete!

We also had 2 Tapsnap units, which are my photo-entertainment booths. Amazing. That is my other franchise, and they just fit so nicely together, which is why my husband and I decided on that franchise.

Q. What is TAPSNAP?

A. Ok, this is just the newest, and coolest thing to hit Charlotte! You’ve seen the boring old photo booths, right? Curtain, box...gross.

Well, ours is blowing the box off the photobooth and making it an OPEN AIR experience. Picture a big screen tv, with a digital camera attached, and being able to fit 12 people in a picture! Cool, right? RIGHT!

And then, it get’s even better.. after you take the pic, you can digitally enhance it with photo props, or borders.. make it black and white, or draw on the screen.. add speech bubbles. Whatever you want! Then it can instantly upload to FACEBOOK or TWITTER!!

We can email it to you, or print you pix right there!!! We also have a Green Screen option, to transport our guests anywhere in the world! We can put a logo on every pic, and that is great for sponsorship purposes and marketing.

We have done some amazing events. Recently, we did the JDRF Hope Gala, as well as the Q-City BBQ and Blues Festival. Plus, we just did an event with Brandi Glanville from ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,’ and the Time out For Youth Haunted Halloween at the Mint Museum.
