3 charged in Statesville attack on man, pregnant woman

STATESVILLE A man and two women have been charged in connection with a home invasion and the assaults of two people, including a pregnant woman, early Sunday.

The incident was reported about 4 a.m. at a residence on Ora Drive. That is south of East Broad Street, on the east side of Statesville.

A man and a woman living at the house said three people forced their way into the residence, according to police reports.

One of the intruders, a man, allegedly tried choking the male resident, the victim told police. The other intruders, both womaen, attacked a pregnant woman, police said.

Neither of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Statesville police said they have arrested Bynum Holmes, 24; Lakisha Moore, 32; and Kayla Dobbins, 24, in connection with the home invasion.

Each has been charged with first-degree burglary; assault by strangulation; and assault on an unborn baby, according to police.
