Truck overturns in Burke; Christmas trees dumped

Observer Staff Reports

MORGANTON There were no serious injuries but a big mess Thursday evening when a tractor-trailer hauling a load of Christmas trees overturned on a winding Burke County highway.

The N.C. Highway Patrol says the truck overturned about 6 p.m. on N.C. 181, about 4 miles north of Morganton.

The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries. But the load of trees tumbled onto the highway. Authorities were forced to close the road for more than an hour as they cleaned up the trees.
