3 charged in string of Caldwell burglaries

LENOIR Two men and a woman were arrested this week in connection with a string of burglaries and thefts in Caldwell County, authorities say.

Investigators from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and the Hudson Police say they suspect the three people targeted lawn and gardening equipment during the series of thefts.

The arrests followed a three-week investigation, and authorities say they recovered a number of stolen items.

Matthew Robert Outlaw, 34, was charged with possession of stolen property, felony larceny, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, and obtaining property by false pretense. He was jailed under $75,000 bond.

Chassity Nicole Hopkins, 19, was charged with three counts of obtaining property by false pretense, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, felony larceny, misdemeanor larceny, and two counts of possession of stolen property. She was jailed under $35,500 bond.

Cody Edward Church, 25, was charged with breaking and entering a place of worship, larceny after breaking and entering, and injury to property. He was jailed under $50,000 bond.
