Charlotte-Mecklenburg homicide detectives are in the early stages of investigation after a man was found dead in a Rocky Ridge Drive home Thursday evening, police said.
Patrol officers with the Steele Creek Division were called to the 1100 block of Rocky Ridge Drive shortly before 5 p.m. after a caller said she had gone to check on the resident and he didn’t answer the door.
Charlotte Fire Department personnel entered the home and Medic pronounced the subject deceased from an apparent gunshot wound, police said. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending the outcome of the investigation.
Detectives continue to canvas the neighborhood for possible witnesses and are working with the medical examiner’s office to determine the circumstances that led to his death, officials said.
