Police charge 138 at DWI checking station on Eastway Drive

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department in a multi-jurisdictional DWI checking station Friday in the 300 block of Eastway Drive charged 138 people, including 11 for driving while impaired and 21 for driving while license revoked.

The checking station ran from 11 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday.

Additional charges included 60 for no operator’s license; 2 for drugs; 8 for open container violations; 34 for other traffic violations; and 3 outstanding warrants.
