A vivid window on the past is open at Mint Museum Randolph. About 100 photographs by Sonia Handelman Meyer, 93, of Charlotte and her colleagues from the New York Photo League are on display through June 29, 2014.

"Bearing Witness: The New York Photo League and Sonia Handelman Meyer" reveals everyday life in New York by members of the league, which Meyer joined in 1943.

“These photographers were dealing with many of the same issues that we still grapple with – poverty, social inequalities, crime, unemployment – and so this work remains incredibly relevant to our lives today,” said Amber Smith, who curated the exhibition.

Other photographers in the exhibition include Berenice Abbott, Margaret Bourke-White, Lewis Hine, Arnold Newman, W. Eugene Smith and Dorothea Lange.
